Boys, aged 15, to appear in court after being accused of stabbing the 16-year-old in Rawnsley Park

Two 15-year-old boys have been charged with the murder of 16-year-old Darrian Williams, who tragically died after being stabbed in a Bristol park earlier this year. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that the boys would appear in Bristol Youth Court on Monday, facing charges of murder and possession of a knife in a public place.

The attack occurred on the evening of April 14 at Rawnsley Park play area in the Easton district. Darrian was approached by two masked individuals, who then stabbed him before fleeing the scene on bicycles. After being injured, Darrian managed to run to nearby Stapleton Road, where a motorist assisted him. He later collapsed in West Street, Old Market, where he was found by emergency services, but despite their efforts, he died at the scene.

Police were called to the incident at 6pm, following a report from the ambulance service. Darrian’s family has been informed, and specialist family liaison officers are continuing to offer their support.

Detective Inspector Neil Meade, the senior investigating officer, expressed condolences for Darrian’s family following the charges. He emphasized the devastating impact of knife crime and affirmed the police’s commitment to preventing such tragedies through community engagement and youth education on the dangers of carrying knives.

In response to the rising youth violence, Avon and Somerset Police have introduced enhanced stop-and-search powers in some areas of Bristol. A new operation aimed at tackling youth violence has also been launched, with additional patrols scheduled near schools and a mobile police station set to be deployed in the coming days. The police have been in discussions with local headteachers to offer reassurance to students returning after half-term.

This killing follows a string of similar incidents in the city, including the recent deaths of Mason Rist, 15, and Max Dixon, 16, who were also victims of knife attacks in the Knowle West area.
