Risk of Thunderstorms Across the UK as Cooler Weather Sweeps In

The UK is set to experience a significant shift in weather this week, as sunshine gives way to cloud and showers, with the possibility of thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday. Temperatures are expected to drop to the high teens and low 20s, following a record-breaking high of 32.2C in Coningsby, Lincolnshire, on Sunday.

The Met Office has predicted that the rainfront will move across the country, bringing cooler weather and a risk of thunderstorms, particularly in the northern and eastern regions. Weather warnings have already been issued for eastern Scotland and the North East, with some areas expecting heavy rain and up to 40mm of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to Met Office spokesperson Stephen Dixon, while the temperature won’t drop to chilly levels, it will feel noticeably cooler than the recent heatwave, especially in northern areas of England and Scotland. The rain is expected to move from west to east, with potential thunderstorms in the southeast towards the end of the week.
