Gunfire Erupts Amid Holiday Crowds on Oceanfront Broadwalk
A tragic shooting on Memorial Day at a busy boardwalk in Hollywood, Florida, resulted in injuries to nine people, including a one-year-old child. The incident occurred just before 7 PM local time along the Hollywood Oceanfront Broadwalk, a popular tourist destination.
According to officials from the Hollywood Police Department, the shooting stemmed from a dispute between two groups. Witnesses reported a chaotic scene, with individuals and families enjoying the holiday suddenly fleeing for cover as gunfire erupted. Videos captured the frantic moments, showing people running from nearby shops and eateries as the situation escalated.
Among the victims are four children, aged between one and 17, and five adults ranging from 25 to 65 years old. As of Monday evening, one victim was undergoing surgery, while the others were reported to be in stable condition. The injured were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital for treatment.
Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy expressed his deep sadness and anger over the incident, condemning the reckless behavior that endangered public safety. “People come to enjoy a holiday weekend on the beach with their families, and to have an altercation with guns in a public setting is beyond reckless,” he stated.
In response to the shooting, the FBI and local police are actively searching for three additional suspects. Two individuals, Morgan Deslouches and Keshawn Stewart, have already been arrested on firearm-related charges. Police recovered five firearms at the scene, two of which were reported stolen from Texas and Miami.
Authorities are urging anyone with videos or photos related to the incident to contact the Hollywood Police Department. The investigation is ongoing as the community grapples with the aftermath of this violent event.
