Napoli Targets Third Scudetto as League Leaders Prepare for Crucial Match

Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti is determined to keep his team’s attacking style as they prepare for a pivotal Serie A match against Inter Milan. With the squad returning from the World Cup break at the top of the league, Napoli is aiming for their third Scudetto title, seeking a record-equalling 12th consecutive league victory on Wednesday.

“We are not starting over; we’ll continue from where we left off,” Spalletti told reporters on Tuesday. “We understand the challenge ahead against a great team, and we’ll stick to our brand of football that has brought us success.”

Napoli’s previous Scudetto titles were achieved in 1987 and 1990, during an era highlighted by the legendary Diego Maradona. Spalletti expressed confidence that the momentum gained before the seven-week World Cup hiatus remains intact. “This incredible journey started a year and a half ago, and there are no breaks; we will rest only when we know how it ends,” he remarked.

The challenge will be significant, as Inter Milan has won their last four home matches against Napoli, making them a formidable opponent. Spalletti acknowledged Inter’s strengths, noting, “They are a top team with significant investments over the past three and a half years. They excel defensively and pose a threat with swift counter-attacks, leaving their two strikers matched against our central defenders. We will need to be organised and balanced.”

Moreover, Spalletti cautioned against complacency and reiterated his primary focus: bringing joy to the fans. “The Scudetto may be your obsession, but mine is to see this city filled with happiness,” he concluded.
