Mother and Young Son Last Seen Boarding Ferry to France, Still Missing
Eight years after Sarah Sisson and her son Harvey Belshaw were last seen travelling to France, Cleveland Police are renewing their appeal for public assistance. On October 8, 2016, Sisson, then 37, drove a black Renault Megane onto a ferry from Dover to Calais with her son Harvey, aged 12. Since that day, neither has made contact with family or friends, raising deep concern and an ongoing search for answers.
Sisson’s brother reported the pair missing on October 24, 2016, and since then, police efforts have included extensive cooperation with French authorities, reviewing surveillance footage, and interviewing those close to the missing pair. The investigation has so far provided no major breakthroughs, but hope persists for new information to surface.
Detective Inspector Matt Hollingsworth highlighted how critical any new leads could be: “Sarah and Harvey’s disappearance remains a great worry to their loved ones, as it is unlike them to lose touch for so long.” The two are believed to have possible connections in France, Spain, Gibraltar, and Germany.
At the time of their last sighting, Sisson was described as having a large build with long blonde hair. Harvey, aged 12 when he went missing, was around five feet tall, slim, and had fair hair.
David, Sisson’s brother, voiced the emotional strain on the family, lamenting the milestones they have missed in Harvey’s life. He emphasised their unwavering hope to see both safe after such a prolonged period.
Cleveland Police encourage anyone with potential information, regardless of its perceived significance, to come forward by calling 101 or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
