Flintoff Set to Discuss 2022 Top Gear Incident in Forthcoming BBC Documentary
Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff has hinted that he may share the story of the life-changing crash he was involved in while filming Top Gear in December 2022. The former England cricketer and TV presenter was severely injured during the high-speed accident at the Dunsfold Aerodrome track.
Life After the Accident
Flintoff, who has kept a low profile since the crash, returned to public life in recent months. In March, the BBC confirmed he would return for a second series of Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams. A new trailer for the upcoming series teases that Flintoff may finally open up about the accident, with a clip showing him saying, “something happened that’s changed my life forever,” while his injuries and scars are visible on screen.
The new series, Field of Dreams On Tour, follows the first season from 2022, where Flintoff transformed a group of teenagers from his hometown of Preston, Lancashire, into a cricket team. This time, the team will tour India, continuing Flintoff’s passion for the sport and inspiring the next generation.
Behind the Scenes
The Top Gear programme, where Flintoff had been a presenter since 2019, has been paused indefinitely after his accident. The former cricket captain reportedly received a financial settlement from the BBC. Flintoff has also made appearances on A League of Their Own and won the first series of the Australian I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.
